The Student Library
These are some of the favorite books of our founders and teachers. You might enjoy reading them and learning from them as you work towards your goals with TJU.
The Power Of Intention 1/9/2011, filed under The Power of Intention, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Lydia Johnson
Professor Lydia Johnson puts this best:
“When we set our intentions firm, we are able to master our goals through any circumstances."
Think And Grow Rich 10/17/2010, filed under Napoleon Hill
This one's been around forever and people still talking about it. In fact, most people that I admire quote from parts of this book, and some folks I admire read it over and over again. BusinessWeek Magazine's Best-Seller List ranked Think and Grow Rich as the sixth best-selling paperback business book 70 years after it was first published. Good stuff in here for folks that are interested in taking charge of their own destiny.
The Slight Edge 10/10/2010, filed under Jeff Olson
In this book Jeff Olson talks about doing the things every day that are easy to do and easy not to do, the power of invisible results - the results we get over time that at first we can't see; it's a highly inspiring and motivating and practical book that everyone who wants life success should own." -Clara Chorley
Atlas Shrugged 9/29/2010, filed under Ayn Rand
Book 4, Atlas Shrugged is submitted by Sasha Bahador: “The number one most riveting book I have read thus far, Rand unapologetically depicts the nature of the mind and the potential of a society if each person took it upon self to produce instead of simply consume. Ideology of self made production versus mass charity.”
The politics of Ayn Rand can be a bit challenging to some: I’ve known young minds to immediately fall completely and unquestionably embrace her teachings, and I’ve known others that have been turned away by her. Beyond a good story, the message of self-reliance, personal contribution, and personal responsibility resonates strongly with myself and many others who I admire. A quick read, a good read, a well worth it read.
It's Not About the Horse 9/6/2010, filed under Wyatt Webb
It’s about overcoming fear and self-doubt.
Wyatt Webb is the creator of "The Equine Experience". This unique form of therapy blends horse sense with common sense. Wyatt uses the horse as a metaphor, explaining that how you relate to this animal will tell how you relate to all living things, hence the title "It's Not About The Horse". Using this analogy and case studies Wyatt shows the reader how to understand what they have learned over the course of their lifetime and explains how to examine what works for or against them. Wyatt then goes on to explain, drawing from his own life experience how anyone that wants to grow and really know who they are must travel through uncharted territory, the only place where you learn anything.
